What is PRP and autologous fat treatment?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

PRP is derived from your own blood and processed using a specialized technique. It contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors that can stimulate and support hair follicle regeneration.
Repeated PRP injections may help stabilize hair loss and improve hair quality. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, usually without anesthesia, takes approximately one hour, and is typically repeated three to five times. PRP can be used both as a preparatory treatment before hair transplantation and as a supportive post-treatment afterward.

Autologous fat grafting

Autologous fat treatment allows the transfer of your own stem cells into the scalp. This method is particularly useful in cases where conditions for hair transplantation are challenging—for example, in patients with scalp atrophy, thinning tissue, or insufficient results following previous transplantations.
Autologous fat may significantly improve the biological environment of the scalp and can be combined with PRP to optimize the tissue quality before a hair transplantation procedure.

How does hair restoration work?

Hair restoration involves relocating biologically stable hair follicles from the back of the scalp to areas affected by hair thinning or hair loss. Hair from the occipital region is more resistant to genetically and hormonally induced hair loss.
Several harvesting techniques are available:

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

In this technique, individual hair follicles are harvested under microscopic control using the modern WAW® system. Hair follicles are removed with an oscillating hollow punch measuring approximately 0.9 mm in diameter, minimizing trauma to surrounding tissue.
In most cases, the donor area is trimmed short above the ears. After approximately ten days, hair regrowth is sufficient to allow for an inconspicuous short hairstyle.

Strip Technique (Follicular Unit Transplantation – FUT)

In the strip technique, a narrow segment of hair-bearing scalp is removed from the back of the head under local anesthesia. The donor area is sutured, and individual follicular units are microscopically dissected from the strip and transplanted into the recipient areas.
This method is increasingly less favored, as long-term observations show that the donor scar may become visible later in life when hair density decreases and hair color lightens.

Implantation of hair follicles

Extracted hair follicles are carefully prepared and counted under the microscope. Recipient channels are created with precise microscopic magnification, ensuring accurate angulation and direction of hair growth.
Implantation is performed using specialized automated implantation devices, allowing precise placement without bending or damaging the follicles. The goal is a completely natural integration into the existing hairstyle.

Pain-Free Hair Transplantation

We offer sedation anaesthesia fort he first segments oft the hair transplantation procedure. During potentially uncomfortable phases of the procedure, pain-relieving and sedative medications are administered intravenously to ensure a comfortable and pain-free experience.
The procedure is carried out under strict safety protocols with continuous monitoring of vital signs.

Am I a suitable candidate for Hair transplantation?

Both men and women may be suitable candidates for hair transplantation. The success of the procedure relies on the principle that hair from the occipital scalp is significantly more resistant to hair loss than hair in the frontal or central scalp.As with any medical procedure, there are limitations. Do I Need to shave my hair for transplantation?

Shaving the hair is not always necessary. We offer specialized no-shave techniques that allow hair to remain long, particularly in the recipient areas. These methods are more time-consuming but are used in the majority of cases.
In men, donor hair at the back of the head is usually trimmed to approximately 3 mm. Regrowth typically renders the area inconspicuous within ten days.
In women, alternative techniques are used. One or two narrow donor strips may be shaved and concealed beneath longer surrounding hair, ensuring no visible scarring or cosmetic compromise.

Facilities and equipment

The Finesse Center, located in the heart of Regensburg, is equipped according to the most advanced standards of hair transplantation. The WAW® extraction system and Lion® implantation devices are used. Up to six specially trained assistants support Professor Gassner during each procedure.

What should be considered after Hair Transplantation?

We place great emphasis on gentle treatment to allow you to return to daily life as discreetly and quickly as possible. You will receive detailed instructions on scalp care and hair washing.
Transplanted hair should be handled very carefully for 14 days. Rubbing the scalp dry or using a strong shower stream should be avoided. Light physical activity may be resumed after approximately ten days and gradually increased.
Depending on the extent of treatment—especially when the hairline or temples are addressed—temporary swelling of the forehead and eye area may occur. This typically peaks between days three and five and subsides significantly within one week.
In the first six months, transplanted hair may shed completely (“shock loss”) before regrowing. Visible results develop during the second half-year after transplantation, with reliable evaluation possible after 12 to 24 months. We may recommend treatment with minoxidil, starting one month after the procedure. Detailed instructions will be provided by our team.

Eyebrow Transplantation

Eyebrows may thin over time or be lost due to excessive plucking, medication, or medical conditions. Hair follicles from the back of the scalp can be transplanted into the eyebrow region using specialized techniques.

Beard Transplantation
